Insight into Dyslexia Assessments
Full Dyslexia Assessments
Screen for Dyslexia
Full Diagnostic Assessment Cost: £495 (inclusive) +mileage
The full diagnostic assessment can potentially lead to a formal diagnosis of Dyslexia or Specific Learning Difficulties. The assessment will also screen for signs of dyspraxia, ADHD and Developmental Language Difficulties. The assessment typically involves a series of tests, questionnaires and evaluations that assess a person’s cognitive abilities, reading and writing skills as well as other language-based skills. Once the assessment is complete, the results are analysed to develop an understanding of the person’s strengths and weaknesses, and where appropriate a diagnosis is made. Regardless of whether or not dyslexia or specific learning difficulties are identified, recommendations for interventions and accommodations to help the individual are made. When there are signs of other learning difficulties (ADHD, Dyspraxia, Developmental language difficulties) this is documented and where appropriate suggestions for onward referral are made. Full consideration for the provision of examination access arrangements is included. i.e., Extra time, Reader etc. Please note that a full diagnostic assessment encompasses all aspects of the access arrangements assessment which is described separately.
Screen for Dyslexia
Screen for Dyslexia Cost £275 (inclusive) + mileage
A screening for Dyslexia will start off exactly the same as the full assessment. The difference is that once the tests and questionnaires have been completed you will receive an indication of whether dyslexia is likely to be diagnosed or not. At this point, you will then have the option to pay an additional £225 and receive a full diagnostic report (as you would with the full assessment) or you can instead receive (included in the £275) a copy of the test scores with verbal feedback on their strengths/weaknesses, how to help, and what the next steps might be.
Access Arrangement Assessments
Access Arrangements Assessment. Cost: £225 (inclusive) +mileage
An examination access arrangements assessment sets out to determine if a student requires any adjustments or accommodations during examinations due to a specific learning difficulty or disability.
Following an initial questionnaire and a short assessment (1-2 hrs), the assessor will recommend specific access arrangements that can help the student to overcome the barriers that they face. A brief report is produced that outlines the results of the assessment alongside the suggested access arrangements. Access arrangements might include extra time, using a scribe or a reader, providing assistive technologies, or any other adjustments that support the student to perform at their best.
